Family reunification to live together in Spain
Would you like your partner, children or parents to join you in Spain? We assess the relationship, your residence and the applicable route before preparing the application.
Consultations in Spanish and Romanian. For consultations in English, please contact us first to confirm how we can help.
We start by understanding your situation
Different rules apply to the family of a foreign resident, a Spanish national or an EU citizen. We first identify the correct regime and where each family member is living.
Spouse or partner
We check evidence of the relationship and the applicable conditions. Documents can vary with the type of partnership.
Children and minors in your care
We assess age, parentage and, where relevant, representation, custody or the other parent’s consent.
Parents and other situations
We check whether the family member falls within the route and the applicable age, dependency or other conditions.
How we work on your application
- We identify the regime and the requirements for the resident and family member.
- We check relationships, resources, housing and foreign documents as appropriate.
- We agree the application and follow-up and explain any visa, entry and documentation stages.
What to prepare for your consultation
- Nationality, passport and residence document of the person living in Spain.
- Family member’s details, passport and current place of residence.
- Marriage, partnership, birth or other relationship documents.
- Available information about income, household composition and housing.
- Dependency, custody or representation documents where relevant.
- Previous decisions and notifications; we check translation, legalisation or apostille where required.
Frequently asked questions
Can any relative join me?
Not every relative is included or subject to the same conditions. Ordinary reunification covers specific relationships and requirements. We check kinship, age, dependency and residence status.
Are the rules the same for Spanish or other EU nationals?
No. There are specific routes for relatives of Spanish nationals and a separate regime for EU citizens and certain family members. Identifying the right regime is essential before preparing documents.
How much income must I show?
It depends on the regime and the household’s composition and circumstances. We assess countable resources and the evidence; one fixed figure should not be applied to everyone.
Do I need a suitable housing report?
Ordinary reunification requires housing evidence under that route’s rules. We check the required documents and report without automatically applying the same condition to every family regime.
What if my child’s other parent is not coming?
Parentage, custody and relevant consents or court decisions must be reviewed. It is advisable to check them before starting the application or visa process.
Will the authorisation allow my family member to work?
Under ordinary reunification, permission for a spouse, partner or child allows work above the legal minimum age without a separate work permit. Residence must be effective; filing is not the same as approval.
What if my relative is already in Spain?
We assess how they entered, their current status and the applicable regime. An ordinary application does not automatically replace a visa or regularise every stay.
Can you guarantee when they will arrive?
We cannot set an arrival date. Administrative and consular stages depend on the procedure and application. We explain our agreed work and the steps requiring personal attendance.
Clear services and fees
Before starting, we agree the scope of the work and our fees. We explain any applicable administrative fees, translations or other separate expenses.
